The Never-Ending-Story of our CrossFit Kyoto do-it-yourself shower WOM (workout of the month! =:o)

Yesterday, our long awaited eco shower curtains finally arrived! They are a non-PVC (no off gassing - yay), washable material and they feature Mt Fuji, a traditional Sento image, giving our soon-to-be showers another fun retro feel.

Unfortunately they are too thin to be used just as is and so Ela has niftily turned our three showers into changing rooms until we have some proper Harry Potter style Invisibility cloth (or sliding doors!?) to create the necessary privacy.

What a saga these showers are turning into! We would like to apologize profusely that they are still not available for their intended use. How ironic that a sports gym in a Sento, a place intended to get wet & clean so easily, would have such a hard time with the shower installation! It’s become the running joke… we are wondering how long it will take before Tatsuro starts to give personal training classes in there, Russell uses them as his workshop or Ela tries to turn them into another cozy tea corner seating area, lol!

To be honest, we realized too late how much of a rare find shower curtains are here in Japan. “But of course”, we hear you say, “We don’t need any curtains, we have unit baths or rooms designed to become wet all over.” Being foreigners we somehow had this illusion that we could simply go out to the local stores for some nice thick, non-see through, eco shower curtains and hang them up on cool stainless steel rods and rings… but lo and behold, shopping had to be done on-line without the possibility to feel the cloth and see the actual design. So a month after our official opening we are still struggling to find the perfect way to get even wetter than during the workout.

Please forgive this unforgivable delay and hang in there with us. We will keep you posted on further developments and in the meantime we hope you enjoy the privacy of these three extra changing rooms.
