What is the S2OH?

Hi, this is Coach Tatsuro,

I’ve decided to answer some frequently asked questions from our members on this blog.

We’ll kick off this series with the "S2OH"! Please read on if you have never heard of it.

The S2OH occasionally shows up in the second half of the WOD.

S2OH is an abbreviation for "Shoulder to Over Head", which means “move the weight from the shoulders to the overhead position.” (Replace “to” with “2” and we get the acronym S2OH). As long as the weight moves from the shoulders to the overhead position any method is OK, but basically there are three ways to do it: ➊ "shoulder press", ➋ "push press", and ➌ "push jerk”. Your choice depends on the weight of the bar, the length of the workout and the intensity you are aiming for.

I hope you all understand the meaning of "S2OH" now.

CrossFit uses many unique terms, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask your coach.

Over the next few posts I will explain the features of the ➊ "shoulder press",➋ "push press", and ➌ "push jerk"!
