🌎 The 2021 CrossFit Open 🌏

You may have heard some of our members talk about it.
You may have seen Instagram or Facebook posts and articles.
You may have wondered what all that excitement and camaraderie was about.

It happens every year.

Some of us joined, finished all 5 weeks, and were able to compare our level of fitness with other CrossFitters around the world. Some of us just joined for the sheer fun of it and took part in only a few of the workouts, sharing our sweat and joy with the all the other fans and enthusiasts.

It's the CrossFit Open! which this year starts on March 11 and lasts only 3 weeks.

The Open is the first part of a competition which leads eventually to in person finals in July. Being only 3 weeks long in 2021 means there will be only 3 workouts, making it easier to take part, complete the whole thing and create a global atmosphere by 🌏 connecting to other fitness fans around the world 🌎 (especially now that we cannot travel) 🌍.

The CrossFit Open is the largest participatory sporting event in the world, setting a record of more than 415,000 participants across 172 countries in 2018.
β€œEvery part of this year’s CrossFit Games has been designed to ensure as many people as possible can take part in and experience the excitement, challenge, and joy of the Open,” said Eric Roza, CEO of CrossFit.

At-home options ensure access for all; masters, teen, and adaptive divisions welcome a broader group of participants; and continent-based semifinals guarantee that athletes from all areas of the world will be represented at the Games.

Masahiro's Experience in 2020 πŸ’ͺπŸ˜ƒ

Hi! this is Masahiro

In 2020 I took part in the CrossFit Open 2020 and I was ranked 120937th. It was my first time ever to participate and I joined with Tatsuro.

However, i competed only for three weeks rather than the official five - but not because I was defeated by Mr. Tatsuro already in the 2nd week - πŸ˜…

It was a short & sweet challenge, and I think I got my money's worth (2,000 yen sign up fee):

- First of all, my results were updated every week
- Secondly, I could see my rank in Asia and in Japan. (It was quite interesting to see how high I was in my age group (29-34), and I was happy when my ranking improved slightly in the second week.)
- And lastly, all the workouts can be scaled to the different levels of experience and strength for each participant, just like at the gym. This way anyone can take part, ...and I think the rest is just the usual battle with myself πŸ€£γ€€

The registration was in English, so when I came for one of my classes, I asked Russell to help me with it all.

This year's event will be held over three weeks = three workouts. This makes it easier to participate and compare our results with a wide range of participants. γ€€ γ€€

🀞 I wish you all the best of luck! πŸ€
