How do I join the CrossFit Open?

In a recent blog we introduced the CrossFit Open.

In this article we'll tell you how to sign up and what to expect in 2021

First of all we need to sign up for the Open competition as Tatsuro is doing below.

You will need to log in to the CrossFit Open website. If this is your first time you will have to create an account.

After creating an account you will be asked to pay $20 to participate. Not bad for a worldwide event eh?
Make sure to select CrossFit Kyoto as your home box.

The first workout for the CrossFit Open 2021 will be released on March 11th at 17:00 IN THE US, that means Friday March 12 10:00 here in Kyoto. Will it be your favourite movements?

Next you simply!? have to perform the workout. A certified judge will check that your reps are all correct. There are various options for all levels of ability. CrossFit.com just posted an example of the different scaling options for the 3rd WOD from 2015. As you can see, it's still possible to take part even if you can't do movements like pull-ups and double-unders 🙂

7 push-ups, from feet or knees
25 squats or sit-to-stands
50 jumping jacks or lateral steps

Equipment Free
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 14 minutes of:
14 dips between chairs
50 air squats
100 jumping jacks

It's a competition so go all out.

Nice job Tatsuro!

Now we need to upload his score to the CrossFit Open website.

After uploading you will be able to compare your result to everyone in the world! You can also check how you did compared to people in the same age range and country.

As we are unable to travel right now, isn't this a great way to connect to a worldwide community of people who are all working towards better health and fitness?

Looking forward to "judging" your performance at the gym 😉
